This is where I bring every out-of-town friend now. It’s where colleagues suggest meeting for drinks after work. It’s become the answer to “where should we go?” in most every situation.
Le Bistrot Du 11
This place is my go-to spot when friends visit from out of town—if I can get a reservation, that is! Le Bistrot Du 11 is a Michelin-recognized gem with an incredible wine selection. Their outdoor seating area is perfect for people-watching, and the bartenders really know their stuff.
Their house cocktail, a lavender-infused gin concoction, perfectly complements those warm summer evenings. If you’re feeling peckish—their cheese board pairs beautifully with any of their wines, perfect for those long conversations that happen when old friends reconnect.

Le Satory
Don’t confuse this casual bar with the street it’s near! Located just a short walk from Rue Satory, Le Satory is where I head when I want a more relaxed, pub-like atmosphere. Their draft beers are always cold, and they pour a proper pint – something I really appreciate after years of tiny, overpriced Parisian beer glasses!
The crowd here is a fun mix of locals and tourists, and I’ve had some fascinating conversations at the bar. They don’t try to be fancy, and that’s exactly what makes it great. When I’m feeling fancy (or when my budget allows for a splurge), there’s nothing quite like treating myself to a drink at the Bar Galerie (AKA Peacock Alley) in the Trianon Palace. Yes, it’s pricey, but sometimes you just need to continue that royal feeling after visiting the palace!
The plush seating and impeccable service at this Versailles bar make you feel like royalty. I generally save this for special occasions – I celebrated finishing my master’s degree here, and they made me feel like absolute royalty! If you can swing it financially, their signature champagne cocktails are an experience in themselves.

I’ll never forget taking my American friend here – she was absolutely convinced she’d stepped into a movie set! I love dancing here on weekend evenings. Their house wine is surprisingly good for the price, and the friendly atmosphere makes it easy to strike up conversations with locals.

- Most palace visitors rush straight back to Paris, making post-5pm the perfect time to enjoy Versailles like a local. The crowds thin considerably!
- If you visit during summer, the sunset views from the outdoor seating areas along Rue de Satory are absolutely magical. The golden hour light hitting those historic buildings is seriously Instagram-worthy.
- Don’t be afraid to ask bartenders for recommendations – Versailles locals are proud of their city and generally happy to share insider tips.
