Hello
I’m Katie

You have a friend in France.

About Me

Bonjour! I’m Katie Danger—and I’m thrilled you’ve found your way here.

While most travelers rush through Versailles ticking off castle highlights, I fell in love with the quieter corners—the sun-dappled side streets and the charm of local cafés.

Today, I call Versailles home. I’m here to share the stories, secrets, and slow moments that convinced me to stay.

If you’re planning a trip to Versailles—or maybe dreaming about what it’s like to actually live here—you’re in the right place.

After all, as Princess Diana once said:

“The best thing about Paris is Versailles.”

My Story

I haven’t always lived in Versailles.

My French chapter began with a one-way ticket from Los Angeles and a ton of recklessness optimism, (though I didn’t realize it at the time). After working with families as an au pair in Germany and Switzerland, I found myself captivated by France—and convinced a lovely Frenchman,  who would later become my husband, to move with me to Paris.

Over the past ten years, I’ve worked to make this place my home. I’ve wrestled with French bureaucracy, butchered verb conjugations with heavily-accented flair, charmed my way into my in-law’s good graces, and somehow eventually—almost miraculously—became French in 2022.

Today our life in the Parisian suburbs includes one lazy dachshund, about a thousand guppies, and four kids who are always asking for more pets.

I created this space as a sandbox to create and also to share what I’ve learned—not just about Versailles, but about life.

Whether you’re coming to Versailles for a weekend or dreaming of a longer stay, I hope my stories help you see the city beyond the bucket list.

Because yes, the palace is spectacular.

But the real Versailles?

It’s in the details.
